A fly press is a versatile piece of metal working equipment. It is used by those in light industry, professional craftsmen and amateur hobbyists.
The fly press is a variant of the screw press, and it allows the force from fly press weight arm {that stores energy} to be delivered via the screw, to a tool in the press ram.
This set up allows many tons of force to be applied to the tool, of a magnitude far greater than what could be generated by hand.
The "feel" of a hand operated fly press allows the operator to perform both delicate operations {folding metal} or heavy duty operations {coining } in the same machine, making the fly press a precise but powerful piece of equipment.
